From the Have's to the Have Not's

I am now pool-less.

Before our vacation to NC, the pool pump went.  I also knew I needed to purchase a new pool cover for this winter.  I was the only one really using the pool and was spending more time caring for it than in it.  Still it was not an easy decision to get rid of the pool and had I known all the work in that decision I may have made it differently.

It has taken three full weekends to remove all vestiges of the pool.  The first weekend was spent draining the water and then dismantling it ($5 cost to dispose of the scrap metal from the pool).  The second weekend was spent filling the hole with 6 cubic yards of sand one wheelbarrow at a time ($63).  The third weekend was filling the hole with 5 cubic yards of topsoil ($106).

The majority of the work is done as of this writing with the exception of  the upper deck still needing to be taken down.  My neighbor showed interest in taking it for use with his pool.  If not, there will be the cost of a dumpster. We also would like to put in a stone paver patio where a portion of the pool had been.  I have three requests in for quotes.

Will update as those decisions are made,

So sorry to hear this horrible news....I know how much you loved that pool. But always remember if you keep your sneakers as brightly white as possible, your tan will look forever golden.

I must agree with Rick and Renee. I was dismayed for you! Now who will get the coveted title of "Golden Boy"? We have a little plastic pool if you would like to do some sunning-it even has a little plastic slide!

Looks like it will be Alan who will now get to wear the coveted "Golden Boy" nickname. You can always come up and float in our pool with Alan and I since our kids never use our pool either.
