Christmas is ...........

Okay, either everyone is angry about Rachelle winning the Thanksgiving puzzle prize, or everyone is angry concerning the comments made about them as I have heard nothing from anyone. Either way, everyone is going to be a winner this time and get the opportunity to participate in this week's "Christmas is ......" blog. Now once you have all calmed down , please read the directions on how this is going to work.

We are going to do something that will make mom beam with pride. We are going to do an acrostic of what Christmas is to us. I will be e-mailing each of the Gangwer's a letter that they are to use in the acrostic. A one or two sentence description of why you used that word is also requested. Once you e-mail me back, I will add it to the acrostic below. (See the one I did.) If there are any lurkers out there who would like to participate in the last two letter (A & S) of the word Christmas, please e-mail me at tg028@netzero.net with your word.

I know everyone is busy at Christmas trying to get my present, but a moment of your time to share with others the true meaning of Christmas will not put you that far behind. Also, failure to participate will cause "Christmas" to be incomplete, and all will know why as I have listed your name next to your assigned letter. I will even go so far as to make the concession that if doing this special Christmas blog ends up taking too much of your time, you can skip getting my present this year. Your participation will be present enough to me.

CHRIST - Christ for which there would be no Christmas.
HOME - Home for where family should be at Christmas.
ROYALTY - The King of kings became a baby that we might reign with Him someday.
I
NCENSE - Gifts brought to the Christ Child by the Magi.
S
AVIOR - We celebrate His birth. (Also "S" for stocking because of the year mom and dad didn't put Rachelle's stocking out until morning because she couldn't fall asleep)
TIME - Time spent with family.
MARY - Without her Jesus would not have been born. (Rick also submitted "M" for me because that is what Christmas is all about.)

And the Winner Is...........

As promised in the Thanksgiving puzzle blog, the winner would be rewarded with a blog of their very own; and that blog has finally arrived. Now, if your a fan of any of the recent prime time reality shows that announce winners/losers, you have no doubt noticed they like to drag out that announcement. The announcer says something like "And this week's winner/loser is.........." then the camera pans to each of the contestants focusing on them for several seconds then back to the announcer then back to the contestants. This goes on for what seems like an eternity --- supposedly building what they think is suspense, but to me it is just irritating. Some shows even go so far as to cut to a commercial break and then redo the whole announcement and camera thing over again. Aaaaarrrrrggggghhhhhh!

So with that said and no further ado, the winner of this year's Thanksgiving puzzle should be very obvious if you are familiar with the Gangwers at all. It pretty much played out as did the many games we competed in as children. Mom didn't play because she probably didn't know how to (or so she always said). Robin most likely was reading a book or taking a bath instead of playing. Randi probably began the puzzle but then quit half way through. Rachelle stuck it out to the very end and found all 25 of the hidden words. Rachelle likes to play word games as all who know her are aware. In fact when she visits you, she will spend half her day on the laptop playing online word games. Apparently all that online training paid off for her as Rachelle is the Winner of the First Ever CTGangwerGazette Thanksgiving Puzzle. I must also write that Rick gets an Honorable Mention for finding almost all the words but one -- health. Unfortunately, no one remembers who came in second though do they. Better luck next year, Rick.
