Gettysburg

The weekend of March 16th through the 18th, Tammy and I traveled to Gettysburg,PA. We left after work on Thursday and drove the six hours to our motel just outside the town.

On Friday, we went to the Gettysburg National Military Park Museum and Visitor Center where we purchased our tickets to the movie A New Birth of Freedom, the Gettysburg Cyclorama, and the Gettysburg Museum of the Civil War. We were able to make the 9am movie and cyclorama which took 45 minutes. We were the only two in the theater for both of these. We then headed to the will call window to let our battlefield guide know that we were there for our 10am tour of the Gettysburg National Military Park. Tammy and I were guided around Gettysburg for the next three hours learning the history of the three day battle in our own vehicle. After the tour, we spent the next three and a half hours going through the museum.

On Saturday, we visited the town of Gettysburg. We stopped at the town's visitor center and picked up a self-guided tour brochure of sites to see in town. As we progressed up and down the streets of the tour of the town, we would also stop and visit the various shops and stores that interested us. After six hours in town, we returned to our motel to soak in the hot tub and pool.

Tammy and I left Gettysburg on Sunday for the trip home. We had planned on watching our copy of the movie Gettysburg when we got home; however, we could not find it. So instead, we read the books that we had purchased Gettysburg - Hour by Hour and At Gettysburg (Or What a Girl Saw and Heard of the Battle).
